IQ or Intelligence Quotient is a measure of a person’s cognitive ability compared to the general population. IQ is obtained through standardized tests designed to assess a person’s ability to reason, solve problems, learn, and understand new ideas. The average score of an IQ test is 100 points, while the maximum possible score is 160.
The result of an IQ test is calculated from the score obtained in the test, which is compared with the mean score of the reference population that took the same test. The average score on the IQ test is 100, with higher scores indicating a higher level of cognitive ability. To calculate the result of an IQ test, the raw score, i.e. the number of questions the individual answered correctly, is taken into account. This score is converted into a standard score, which is compared to the distribution of scores in the reference population. The standard score is converted into an IQ (Intelligence Quotient), which is a number indicating the individual’s cognitive ability relative to the reference population.
The test consists of 20 questions that measure different aspects of intelligence. In this way, the different types of intelligence are evaluated through the different blocks of questions.
The maximum time allowed to take the test is 20 minutes, although it is normal to finish the test before the 20 minutes are up. Questions that could not be answered during the 20 minutes will be counted as failed for the results.
The result of your IQ score is obtained immediately upon completion of the test. We will also issue an official IQ Global Council certificate at the end of the test with your IQ score and evaluation of the different areas of intelligence, with a detailed analysis of your results.
The average IQ varies from country to country, but an IQ between 85 and 115 is considered a standard or normal result. In this sense, an IQ above 100 will be considered above average, while above 115 will be classified as high intelligence.
IQ scores above 130 are commonly considered in the scientific community as unusually high or very high intelligence. Above these scores, scores of 140 or higher are considered as gifted.
Taking an IQ test can be useful in assessing a person’s cognitive abilities, such as their ability to solve problems, understand complex concepts, and reason logically. IQ tests are frequently used in educational and professional settings to identify the strengths and weaknesses of individuals and to make decisions about placement and development. It is important to keep in mind that IQ tests are not the only measure of intelligence and should not be used as the sole basis for making important decisions about an individual. IQ tests should be used in conjunction with other measures, such as observation and performance assessment, to gain a complete understanding of a person’s abilities and potential.
